Kentaste is the largest producer and seller of coconut oil, milk and cream in Kenya. The company operates two facilities at the coast, one in Malindi and one in Kwale, sourcing from over 2,000 farmers with most of them organic and fair-trade certified. Its quality products target both the food and personal care market and are available across East Africa. In addition to the nutritional and health benefits associated with coconut products, the farming and processing provides small-holder coastal farmers with additional income and increases employment throughout the value chain from harvesting to processing. Furthermore, coconut processing results in multiple by-products that can be used as input for other value chains, such as natural fibres for ropes, brushes or mats, coco peat for nurseries and charcoal for filters or fuel.
