Jibu Tanzania is a social venture established in June 2018 aiming to develop a distribution model for providing affordable and clean drinking water to the low and middle income groups.

In Tanzania there is high demand for clean water with 70% of a growing population not yet being reached. Only the higher income class (10 to 20% of population) can afford clean drinking water, while 80% consumes unsafe water from municipality and boreholes. Unsafe water leads to major health problems like typhoid, fluorosis and diarrhea, which is the highest cause of death amongst children below 5 years old.

Jibu uses a proprietary and new technology that delivers affordable and clean drinking water. The onsite treatment filling technology allow a Jibu franchisee to sell water at up to 50% below the current price of bottled water in case of larger volumes, representing a cost-effective solution for low and middle income Tanzanians.

DOB Equity has invested in the company to further expand the franchise model and increase the awareness.
